State of the Judiciary Speeches Tomorrow at New Jersey State Bar Annual Meeting

Atlantic City – Supreme Court Chief Justice Stuart Rabner and U.S. District Court of New Jersey Chief Judge Garrett Brown will deliver remarks about their respective judiciaries Friday morning.

The speeches begin May 20 at 9 a.m. Reporters and photographers are welcome to cover the event, which is part of the association’s three-day Annual Meeting and Convention at the Borgata Hotel, Casino and Spa in Atlantic City. It began Wednesday and concludes Friday afternoon.

“The chance to hear directly from the judges who oversee the state and federal courts in New Jersey is a unique and meaningful opportunity,” said Richard H. Steen, who will become president of the association at an installation event tonight.

Immediately following the speeches, a series of bench-bar programs will be held for lawyers and judges to gather and discuss the latest issues in criminal, family and workers’ compensation law. Other seminars will focus on how criminal proceedings can affect the immigration status of defendants and what lawyers need to do to follow ethics rules when calculating fees.
