Raymond Londa Leads Professionalism Award Winners

Raymond S. Londa, Esq. will receive the 2008 Daniel J. O’Hern Award from the New Jersey Commission on Professionalism in the Law (NJCPL) at an awards luncheon to be held on Friday, September 26 at the New Jersey Law Center, New Brunswick. The O’Hern Award is presented annually to an attorney who exemplifies commitment to the highest standards of professional conduct, career achievement, and service to the legal profession and community.

In addition to the Daniel J. O’Hern Award, the commission and participating bar associations will present Professional Lawyer of the Year awards to lawyers of outstanding character who exemplify the best of the profession. Participating associations include county bar associations, specialty and minority bar groups and the state bar association.

Raymond Londa is a partner in the firm of Londa & Londa in Elizabeth. He has been practicing law in Union County for over forty years. Mr. Londa is a graduate of Rutgers School of Law-Newark, Colgate University and the Pingry School.

Dean Rayman L. Solomon, Chair of the Commission, describes Raymond Londa as “a consummate professional and a true gentleman who is dedicated to the law and to helping improve the profession by his tireless work within the organized bar.” Richard Badolato, former president of the New Jersey State Bar Association said “Ray richly deserves this award because he epitomizes what it means to be a thoroughly competent professional; he has garnered wide respect and admiration from his colleagues in the bar and the bench.”

Raymond Londa is a past president of the Union County Bar Association and the New Jersey State Bar Foundation. He has long been active in the organized bar and as a member of committees of the state judiciary. Mr. Londa has served on the New Jersey State Bar Association’s Board of Trustees and numerous association committees. He is past chair, and current vice-chair, of the Ethics Diversionary Program Committee, and is past chair of the Judicial and Prosecutorial Appointments Committee and the Nominating Committee.

Mr. Londa has been a member of numerous committees appointed by the Supreme Court of New Jersey including the Character and Fitness Committee, the Disciplinary Oversight Committee and the Professional Responsibility Rules Committee. He currently chairs the Unauthorized Practice of Law Committee and is past chair of the District XII Ethics Committee.

Mr. Londa is a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation and a Counselor in the Richard J. Hughes Inn of Court. He was a recipient of a Professional Lawyer of the Year Award, presented jointly by the Commission on Professionalism in the Law and the Union County Bar Association.

The New Jersey Commission on Professionalism in the Law is a cooperative effort of the New Jersey State Bar Association, the state and federal judiciaries and the state’s three law schools – Seton Hall, Rutgers-Camden and Rutgers-Newark. The commission seeks to encourage the spirit of professionalism and commitment to positive values among lawyers and judges, through educational programs and other initiatives.
