Desha L. Jackson Re-Appointed Trustee to New Jersey State Bar Association

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ – Desha L. Jackson, a Lakewood resident and attorney with the New Jersey Department of Corrections, Equal Employment Division where she serves as the Assistant Director, was re-appointed to a two-year term on the New Jersey State Bar Association’s Board of Trustees. She was sworn in at the NJSBA’s Annual Meeting in Atlantic City, May 16 – 18.

An NJSBA member since 1995, Ms. Jackson was first appointed to the Board of Trustees in 2005. She is active in many NJSBA entities including the Diversity Committee, of which she is co-chair, the Pipeline Task Force, and Minorities in the Profession Section. Additionally, Ms. Jackson is the President-Elect of the New Jersey Women Lawyers Association and is the Immediate Past President of the Association of Black Women Lawyers. Most recently, Ms. Jackson was appointed to serve as Vice Chair for South Jersey of JPAC for 2007-2008. She has also served on the Board of Trustees of the New Jersey State Bar Foundation.

Ms. Jackson received her law degree from Stetson University in St. Petersburg Florida. She is also a member of the American Bar Association.

The New Jersey State Bar Association, incorporated in 1899, is dedicated to the continuing education of lawyers and the public, to reforming and improving the legal system and to aiding in the administration of justice.
