Mid-Year Meeting 2007 set for Santa Barbara

The New Jersey State Bar Association will travel to Santa Barbara for Mid-Year Meeting 2007, offering members the opportunity to explore the spectacular California coast while attending a wide range of top-notch educational programming. Slated for Nov. 6-11, and based at the Four Seasons Biltmore Resort, the conference promises something for everyone.

Among the programming being developed with the Institute for Continuing Legal Education is “Civil Unions—East Meets West,” co-sponsored by the Young Lawyers Division, Family Law Section and Gay Lesbian Bisexual and Transgender Rights Section. Guest speaker Roberta Bennett, Esq. of Los Angeles, California is a pioneer in the area of custody/visitation and adoption rights in Los Angeles County.

"How to be on Your Best Behavior: An Ethics Update for Municipal Lawyers, Public Officials and Those Who Contribute to Them" will address state laws and changing ethics rules governing the conduct of attorneys who represent municipalities and their boards, serve as public officials and contribute to political candidates. “Recent Court Rule Amendments for Civil and Family Cases: Best Practices” will address the impact of new rule amendments on civil and family practice and will feature presiding and trial judges from the civil and family parts.

Chancery 2007, E-Discovery and “Rights and Liabilities in the Internet Age” are on the program schedule. The mid-year educational slate also includes “How to Successfully Argue Before the NJ Supreme Court,” “Global Warming: Impacts and Initiatives,” and “Coast to Coast: Financial Issues in Divorce.”
