Jeralyn L. Lawrence Receives Legislative Recognition Award

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ – Jeralyn L. Lawrence, a Watchung resident and attorney with the law firm of Norris McLaughlin & Marcus in Bridgewater will be honored with the New Jersey State Bar Association’s (NJSBA) Legislative Recognition Award at a ceremony at the NJ Law Center on February 23, 2007. She is receiving this award for her work on S-1467 (Scutari) which adds new causes of action for divorce based on irreconcilable differences. Ms. Lawrence worked to promote S-1467, attending meetings with members of the State Legislature and participating in numerous conference calls and discussions. Thanks to her effort, S-1467 was signed into law on January 20, 2007.

The annual Legislative Recognition Award is given to acknowledge noteworthy legislative service of NJSBA members.

An NJSBA member since 1998, Ms. Lawrence is on the Executive Committee of the Family Law Section and is a member of the Young Lawyers Division. She is a member of the Somerset County Bar Association, where she serves as Co-Chair of the Family Law Committee. Ms. Lawrence is also a member of the Association of Trial Lawyers of America, where she is Chair of the New Jersey Matrimonial Young Lawyers Committee. In addition, she is a member of the Essex County Bar Association.

Ms. Lawrence serves on the District XIII Attorney Ethics Committee of the U.S. Supreme Court Office of Attorney Ethics. She graduated summa cum laude from Seton Hall Law School, and is also admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court, District of New Jersey and the U.S. Supreme Court.
