NJSBA Launches Online Directories for Section Members

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—A new attorney directory will be available on the New Jersey State Bar Association (NJSBA) website,, beginning Friday, September 1. The NJSBA Online Section Directories will provide contact information on attorneys who are members of the association’s 34 sections and the Young Lawyers Division, in a broad span of practice areas ranging from Bankruptcy Law to Elder and Disability Law to General Practice to Taxation Law, and more. Other lawyers and the public can find contact information, and email and web links for NJSBA section members according to the area of law stated in the section name.

“The Online Section Directories will provide another benefit for members of NJSBA sections by letting attorneys and members of the public know of their membership and the areas of law in which they practice,” said NJSBA President Wayne J. Positan.

We have found that half of the people visiting the NJSBA website are searching for a lawyer. Currently the NJSBA provides links to county lawyer referral services as well as referring callers to those services. We are now enhancing communications for the legal community and the public by providing a simple directory of attorneys by section, with contact information, so individuals can do all their own searching and research by linking to firm websites, or calling their offices. We have also made it easier to link to county bar lawyer referral services.”

Listings can be found in the directory alphabetically or by section. A description of the areas of law covered by the section members appears at the top of each section page.

On Friday, when the Online Section Directory goes live, from the home page of, visitors to the site should select the Online Section Directory button to the left of the home page. Listings will be displayed three ways: section member’s name only, contact information consisting of address and phone, and contact information including email and web links.

“Of the 16,000 NJSBA members, just under 500 have signed up so far for the Online Section Directory. We anticipate that many more of our members will continue to post their listings, so that we will have one of the most comprehensive, attorney directories for the public. The NJSBA membership is very diverse, as can be seen from the many sections that we offer for membership, so we have a lot to offer both our members and the public.” Positan added.

The NJSBA website provides a link to County Bar Association Lawyer Referral Services from Select the Lawyer Referral Service button on the left side of the page to be connected to a listing of the county bar associations that provide these services. The listing provides contact information and links.
