Katrina Career Assistance Program Helping Displaced Legal Professionals

A special program provided by the Legal Career Center of the New Jersey State Bar Association

During the next few months, there will be thousands of displaced attorneys, paralegals, legal secretaries and legal support professionals throughout the Gulf State region. For many of these qualified legal professionals, they will be homeless, jobless and without an income until their local cities, firms and careers can be rebuilt or re-established. We believe that many in the legal community have the ability and desire to assist them in finding temporary employment if the proper channels were in place to do so. With the assistance of the NJSBA Legal Career Center and, we are offering a solution, but we need your help.

Over the next few months, the local bar associations, paralegal and legal secretary associations in Katrina’s path will be notifying and assisting their local members to visit our online Career Center to find what we are calling “Katrina” openings and directing them to apply for those online listings.

If you or your firm are able to offer these displaced legal professionals “short-term” full-time, temporary or part-time positions, we can list your “Katrina” openings at no charge on our online Career Center for them to find.

Here is how to list your “Katrina” opening:

Go to and select the Legal Career Center Button. Go to the Employers section of our online Career Center.

Select “Post your company profile” and select the “Employers” link.

Complete the information to receive your Career Center “User Name” and “Password.”

Select the “Purchase Job Credits” link and enter your new User ID and Password.

When listing your gracious opening, complete the online form to your best ability and use the below format in the Job Description Field:

Please put “Katrina Opening” as the opening description.

Describe the available opportunity for them.
