Denville Attorney Ivette R. Alvarez Named To New Jersey State Bar Association Board Of Trustees

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—Ivette R. Alvarez, a resident of Livingston and an attorney in Denville, was installed as an At-Large Trustee for the New Jersey State Bar Association (NJSBA) at the organization’s recent annual meeting in Atlantic City.

An NJSBA member for 15 years, Alvarez is currently second vice chair of the NJSBA Family Law Section and has been a member of the Family Law Section Executive Committee since 1999. She is also a former legislative coordinator for the section.

Alvarez served as vice chair of the NJSBA Malpractice Insurance Committee in 2003-2004, and she is also a member of the Women in the Profession and Minorities in the Profession sections, and the Meeting Arrangements and Program and Public Relations committees.

Active within the Hispanic Bar Association, this year Alvarez serves as treasurer for that association. In prior years, she served as recording secretary, membership secretary and trustee-at-large.

In addition, she is a former co-chair of the Family Law Committee for the National Hispanic Bar Association and served on its Membership Committee from 2000-2001.

Alvarez is a member of the Garden State Bar Association, having served on its Scholarship Committee from 1995-2003. She is a member of the Essex County Bar Association and participated in the Essex County Aids Initiative. She serves on the Family Law Executive Committee and Matrimonial Early Settlement Panel for the county association.

Alvarez is a panelist for the Union County Matrimonial Early Settlement Panel, and was a member of the Morris County Bar Association Child Advocacy Project.

A member of the Executive and Audit committees for Legal Services of New Jersey, Alvarez also serves as Community Advisor and is a former Executive Committee member of the Resource Center for Women. She was a member of the board of directors of the Columbia Law School Association.

Alvarez has served on numerous New Jersey Supreme Court Committees including: the District V-C Fee Arbitration Committee where she served as chair and vice chair, the Family Practice Committee and the Ad Hoc Committee on Skills and Methods.

For the Administrative Office of the Courts, Alvarez served on the Joint Advisory Committee on Child Support Enforcement, the Family Division Practice Committee and the Family Division Practice Subcommittee on Child Support.

Alvarez is counsel with Einhorn, Harris, Ascher, Barbarito, Frost and Ironson in Denville where she concentrates her practice on civil litigation with an emphasis on sophisticated matrimonial and family law matters.

She is a graduate of Columbia University School of Law and the State University of New York at Albany.
