Candidates Sought for Family Law Section Executive Committee

The New Jersey State Bar Association’s Family Law Section is seeking candidates to fill a limited number of seats on its executive committee for the 2014-15 term.

In order to be considered for selection to the executive committee, candidates must be members in good standing of the association and section, according to the section’s bylaws. It is also expected that the selected candidates will attend and actively participate in all section executive committee meetings, the association’s Annual Meeting and Convention and the Family Law Retreat, and other section events and seminars throughout the year. In addition, members of the executive committee must be committed to becoming active with their local legislators and assist in lobbying efforts to advance the mission and goals of the section, according to Jeralyn Lawrence, the section’s chair-elect.

"On May 15, 2015, my long-awaited turn to lead our vibrant and tireless section will be here. I hope all members of the Family Law Section will join me at the Annual Meeting and Convention in Atlantic City, as well as attend my swearing-in and networking luncheon. This is a time when all members and officers of the section gather and discuss improving our practice and how to advance the goals of our section, specifically our legislative agenda,” said Lawrence.

Interested candidates should forward a letter of interest, a resume and contact information to Jeralyn Lawrence, either by e-mail to jllawrence@nmmlaw.com or by mail to Jeralyn Lawrence, Attorney at Law, Norris McLaughlin & Marcus, P.C., 721 Route 202-206, Suite 200, Bridgewater, N.J. 08807. Candidates should include a cover letter noting any prior legislative or lobbying experience and/or any potential contacts they may have with members of the Legislature or Governor’s Office. The deadline to submit nominations is noon March 31.
