Candidates tapped for leadership positions, Padin selected as next secretary
The New Jersey State Bar Association’s Nominating Committee tapped Evelyn Padin to be the organization's first Latina secretary.
The selection means Padin, who is an at-large trustee, is on track to become president of the state’s leading group for lawyers, judges and legal professionals in 2019.
The committee also tapped over two dozen members for leadership positions. The slate includes a handful of new selections to the association’s governing body, the board of trustees. The Nominating Committee will solicit candidates for the unfilled at-large trustee position specifically dedicated for a Hispanic member.
The selections were announced following the committee’s extensive interviews and deliberations earlier this month. In addition to the slate of candidates, under the bylaws current President-Elect Paris P. Eliades automatically becomes president, and current President Ralph J. Lamparello becomes immediate past president in May.
