Notice to the Bar - NJSBA General Council to Elect Nominating Committee Member
The New Jersey State Bar Association’s General Council will meet on Friday, November 16 at the New Jersey Law Center, New Brunswick. Pursuant to NJSBA bylaws, the General Council will elect a member to a two-year term on the NJSBA’s Nominating Committee. The Committee is responsible for nominating candidates to serve in officer and trustee positions on the NJSBA Board of Trustees, as ABA delegates, and as members of the Nominating Committee.
Any member of the NJSBA’s General Council may become a candidate for a Nominating Committee seat by filing a petition signed by no fewer than 10 members of the General Council (as designated in the Association’s bylaws, Article VI, paragraph 1). Nominees from Essex County are not eligible, pursuant to Article IV, paragraph 1 (i) of the Association’s bylaws, which prohibits more than one of the two members elected to the Nominating Committee by the General Council to be from the same county.
To obtain a petition form please call the NJSBA at (732) 937- 7514, or write to Rita Seborowski, New Jersey Law Center, One Constitution Square, New Brunswick, NJ 08901. Completed petitions must be submitted to Angela C. Scheck, the NJSBA Executive Director no later than October 5.
