State Bar Association Nominating Committee seeks candidates for leadership posts -Two trustee seats open on governing body

The New Jersey State Bar Association is looking for candidates to fill openings on its governing body.

Two trustees have moved to new positions – one to the state Superior Court bench and another will become secretary of the association in May – so the Nominating Committee is accepting applications from members to join the board.

Letters of intent are due April 11 at noon.

The board of trustees meets regularly to analyze and vote on legislative, amicus, and other issues brought forward from the association’s sections and committees.
One open seat is for a trustee to represent Cape May County, to replace J. Christopher Gibson, who is now a state Superior Court judge.  The other seat is for a representative of a state bar association section or committee, which had been filled by Thomas Hoff Prol, who will be sworn-in as state bar secretary at the Annual Meeting and Convention in Atlantic City in May. Terms for both seats would be from time of nomination until next May.

Candidates are judged on standards of fairness, professional responsibility, civility, and the quality of their prior service to the organized bar. They must also demonstrate good judgment, the ability to articulate positions intelligently, and a willingness to creatively solve problems and be mindful of the mission to bring into the association’s leadership broad and diverse representation of all segments of the bar.
The filing deadline is noon, April 11. The deadline for candidate questionnaires is noon, April 20.
