Following is a summary of actions taken at the November 8, 2007 meeting of the New Jersey State Bar Association Board of Trustees at the Four Seasons Resort Santa Barbara in Santa Barbara, California. This summary does not constitute official minutes.
Membership and Public Relations Committee
The Board approved membership proposals for reduced section dues for any section to $20 for Young Lawyers Division members, free section membership for any section to law students, and a member benefit for discounted magazine subscriptions through Subscriptions Services, Inc. The magazine subscription benefit offers NJSBA members 50 percent discounts on popular magazines that members can provide in their offices.
Military Law and Veterans' Affairs Committee
The committee will hold its annual Military Law Symposium on April 5, 2008. The committee will be seeking section status.
Capital Campaign
The NJ State Bar Foundation continues to solicit donors for its Campaign for the Law Center. A public solicitation program will begin in early 2008.
New Jersey State Bar Foundation
The Bar Foundation will be celebrating its 50th anniversary with an event scheduled for April 10, 2008 at the NJ Law Center.
Banking Law Section
The section will hold an evening with legislators in Spring 2008, an event to be cosponsored by banker's associations.
Labor and Employment Law Section
The section will hold a reception for the new NLRB Director, Michael Lightner.
