Happy Hour at Municipal Court 101

The Municipal Court 101 seminar on Wednesday afternoon turned into happy hour for at least one of the attendees, as he was asked to imbibe a bottle of wine during the substantive portion of the program so the other attendees could be treated to a realistic demonstration of the Alcotest III machine. That's the machine that has replaced the breathalyzer in dui cases. Jeff Gold and Arnold Fishman educated hundreds of audience memebrs about relevant municipal court cases, statutes and procedures, while the volunteer subject drank away. For the final part of the program, Sargeant Kevin Flanigan explained the science behind the Alcotest machine, and showed audience members the various pieces of the machine that come together to make it work. Then, a bottle and a half of wine later, it was time for the true test. Was our subject legally drunk? With a .09 reading on the Alcotest, yes, he was indeed.
