NJSBA Task Force on Disaster Planning Mission Statement

- To marshal information about disaster planning that has already been developed by the ABA and various states and in publications.
- To develop a checklist and other supporting materials that will help New Jersey attorneys engage in their own assessments of what they need to do and how they can do it in terms of disaster planning. This should include identifying potential suppliers/amalgams, etc that can assist in what has to be done.
- To interact with the Supreme Court of New Jersey and other state agencies in terms of what can and should be done as a collaborative effort to protect the justice system, the interests of the public, NJSBA members, all attorneys and their clients, and legal services for the poor.
- To interact with the ABA Task Force on Disaster Planning, which s currently in formation after being announced by then-incoming ABA President Karen Mathis in 2006.
- To interact with the bar associations of the Northeast states including both the Middle Atlantic and New England Bar Conferences. This should ultimately result in setting up some type of regional meeting followed by a regional compact/plan of communication and mutual assistance contingency planning.
